Dear Ms. Wilson:

In response of your job advertisement in the January 14th Alberta Post classified section of your need for a newly graduated Civil Engineer for one of your Calgary area sites. I will be returning to the Calgary area after graduation in March and consider that I have the essential qualifications for the project.

In each summer for the previous five years I have worked at a variety of levels in the construction industry. As pointed out on my enclosed resume, I started work as a general laborer, and moved up to skilled cabinetmaking work, and previous summer served as assistant construction manager on a two million dollar housing construction project.

Besides my practical experience, I will complete necessities for my B.S. in Building Construction in March. As you might know, Concordia University College of Alberta is one of the few universities in the country that offers such a dedicated degree for the manufacturing and construction industry. I am sure that my degree, together with my construction industry experience, makes me an outstanding candidate for your job.

The ABC Construction Company’s projects are recognizable to me, and my ambition is to work for a company that has your outstanding reputation. I would greet the chance to interview with you. I will be in the Calgary during the week of March 12th and would be obtainable to talk with you at that time. In the next week to ten days I will call you to respond any questions you may have.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

(Signature)
